167 Members and guests attended the December 6th Christmas dinner with speaker Mary Beth Brown author of the book "Hand of Providence: The Strong and Quiet Faith of Ronald Reagan"..

146 of those present cast ballots before the meeting in our SSRRRC Presidential Straw Poll. From all indications, it is a very tight race in the Puget Sound area for the GOP nomination. Results are as follows:

SSRRR Club Straw Poll results - September 26th, 2007

As Vice President for programs of the South Sound Ronald Reagan Republican Club here in the state of Washington, I facilitated our 5th monthly Straw Presidential Poll at our September 26th meeting in Lakewood featuring Mike Ennis, Director of the Center for Transportation Policy at the Washington Policy Center.

142 members and guests attended, with 123 participating in the poll which was cast by private paper ballot. We had many guests (and a few new club members--welcome) from the Ron Paul campaign and they proved the statement, "politics is won buy those that show up". We also have below the straw poll results from the 4,591 participants who stopped by Republican booth at the Puyallup fair. SSRRR Club Straw Poll results - August 21st, 2007

As Vice President for programs of the South Sound Ronald Reagan Republican Club here in the state of Washington, I facilitated our 4th monthly Straw Presidential Poll at our August 21st combined meeting with the 25th District Republican Club at Bradley Lake Park in Puyallup.

Kirby Wilbur of KVI Radio AM 570, (broadcasting weekdays from 5:00 to 9:00 AM) was our guest speaker and had lots of words of wisdom as we prepare for 2008. 175 members and guests attended, with 160 participating in the poll which was cast by private paper ballot. SSRRR Club Straw Poll - May 18th, 2007

As Vice President for Programs of the South Sound Ronald Reagan Republican (SSRRR) Club (www.ronaldreaganclub.org) here in the state of Washington, I facilitated a Straw Presidential Poll on the May 17, 2007.

Michael Medved, http://www.michaelmedved.com/ was our guest speaker which attracted a club record sell-out crowd of 300! Of these 300 members and guests who attended, 202 participated in our poll which was cast by paper ballot. It appears that the debates have had a very positive change for Mike Huckabee, with significant positive changes also for Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani. The "undeclared candidacies" of Fred Thompson and Newt Gingrich declined, which indicates they need to make decisions soon if they have any hope of staying competitive. John McCain's campaign continues to decline and the remaining candidates are not yet getting much traction.

We will continue to conduct monthly Republican Straw Presidential Polls and will post the results on the SSRRRC web site. At our next meeting with speaker Washington Secretary of State Sam Reed on June 21st, we will again conduct this poll.

It will be very interesting and informative to track changes on a monthly basis as the race for the Republican nomination continues.
