President - Doug Kotrba
Graduate of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in 1964 with a BS in Mathematics. Commission through the ROTC program there and served the next 20 years in numerous overseas troop assignments Korea, Vietnam and Germany which include a 12 month tour with the 196th Light Infantry Brigade (Sep) in the Republic of Vietnam 1967-8 as well as stateside system development positions. After retirement, he married and started a 12-year career with Vitro Corporation performing Program Management tasks for Army and Navy Technical Contracts. This was followed by 5 years as the Regional Director for US Senator Slade Gorton responsible for handling all matters in So King, Pierce, Kitsap and Thurston Counties , which included 1.2 million constituents. Currently Doug is self employed and serving as the President of the Mt Rainier Chapter of the Military Officer’s Association and the President of the South Sound Ronald Reagan Republican Club. Doug is an active member of the Ft Lewis Chapter of the Association of the United States Army and serves as their representative to the Statewide Veteran’s Legislative Coalition and to the Pierce County Veteran’s Affairs Council. He is also serving as a board member to the Madigan Foundation and the Patriot’s Pride Foundation.

Leslie Swalley is Council Assistant to PC Councilman Dick Muri. After attending Thunderbird Graduate School in the field of International Business and Chinese, she worked in Taiwan for 10 years as Executive Marketing Officer for the Thailand Trade Office and later as a Consultant / Trainer conducting business programs for multi-national corporations such as AT&T, NIKE, Chinese Petroleum Corporation and China Trust Bank. Swalley also implemented the first English Language program in Taipei public schools and was a well-known local teacher.
Syl is a Texas native, attended the University of Texas and now calls Washington home. An Army spouse for 22 years she has a deep commitment to the Armed Forces and all those who serve. Her family was awarded the 2004 AUSA Army Family of the Year and 2002 Fort Lewis Family of the Year. In May 2006 Syl was awarded the Fort Lewis Adult Volunteer of the Year and her youngest son Phillip was the Fort Lewis Youth Volunteer of the Year. Past awards include the Dr Mary Walker Award, Fort Lewis Volunteer of Merit 2001,2002,2003,2004, Fort Bliss Helping Hand Award, and Cubmaster Award.

He is a 1949 graduate of St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN; 1952 of Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN; and 1995 of Faith Lutheran Seminary, Tacoma, WA. During WWII he served with the US Infantry in France. He was commissioned in the USAF in 1952 as a Chaplain and retired in 1975 as a Lt. Col. He has received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Unit Croix de Guerre, and others. He served in Greenland, France, Spain, Japan, and in the U.S. He and his wife Lin live in Lakewood, WA. Their son Paul died in 1963. Naomi, their daughter, is married to Otto A. Petersen (Maj., USAF, Ret.) They have three grandchildren and twin great-grandchildren. Retirement enables his involvement in military organizations. He is Chaplain Emeritus of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and past Chaplain General of the Military Order of the World Wars. He is active as a Christian counselor and writer.

He was on the Steering Committee of the I-912 Initiative and ran for State House seat in the 25th District in 2004 and 2006. He failed to win both times but considered it a victory that a humble immigrant could actually run for such a high office. He is now GOP Leader of the 25th District and an active and proud member of the SSRRR Club. Beckie, who is 26th District Leader for the Pierce County Republicans, currently serves on the Peninsula Advisory Commission, the Land Use Advisory Commission for the greater Gig Harbor area. She is a member of the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce and serves on the board of the Gig Harbor Republican Women. She is also on the Government Relations Board of the Washington Software Association.
